Critics' Review: Kai Po Che is a very Fine Film, Must-Watch

Film: Kai Po Che!

Cast
:
Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh, Raj Kumar Yadav, Amrita Puri
Director: Abhishek Kapoor
Producer: Ronnie Screwvala, Siddharth Roy Kapur
Screenplay: Pubali Chaudhari, Supratik Sen, Abhishek Kapoor, Chetan Bhagat
Music: Amit Trivedi

Plot: Based on Chetan Bhagat's novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life, the movie is about three best friends Ishaan (Sushant Singh Rajput), Omi (Amit Sadh) and Govind (Rajkumar Yadav) – young, ambitious and restless – are trying to make a mark.

Kai Po Che is a triumphant yell in Gujarati uttered when flying kites are cut. The movie is set in exciting times of 2000s– a new millennium has just dawned. In a country where cricket is religion, they hit upon a brilliant plan – to start a training academy that could produce India's next sporting superstars! What follows is the greatest adventure of their lives, as they attempt to navigate the big hurdles in the path of fulfilling their dreams.

Taran Adarsh, Bollywood Hungama
Kai Po Che cannot be slotted in any particular genre, in my opinion. It depicts unconditional friendship, it portrays 'bromance' as well as romance, it illustrates politics, it exemplifies the passion for a sport (cricket), it talks of the events that unfolded in Gujarat (earthquake, Godhra massacre and the riots). Multi genres, you could say. But, at heart, Kai Po Che remains an emotional saga of three friends and how it stands the test of time. Very similar in spirit to the director's previous outing Rock On!, Farhan Akhtar's Dil Chahta Hai and Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, yet different.

In Kai Po Che, Abhishek brings alive the characters and events most persuasively. He borrows from the novel, but at the same time adds a lot to it with his deft execution. Kai Po Che narrates the story of three friends and is based in the city of Ahmedabad. Abhishek Kapoor has the trappings of a first-rate storyteller -- a fact that was evident in his first two endeavors [Aryan, Rock On!]. In several ways, Rock On! and Kai Po Che are analogous, yet divergent. While Rock On! was urban and metro-centric in terms of content, Kai Po Che has the raw emotional appeal of three middle class guys that strikes a chord with just about anybody and everybody. The three pivotal parts, enacted effortlessly by Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkumar Yadav and Amit Sadh, are the heartbeats of the enterprise. Sushant is a terrific actor, is blessed with wonderful screen presence and gets the timing of his character right. I see tremendous potential in him! Rajkumar Yadav has proved his credentials in the past and shines yet again in a role that's in sharp contrast to the other two characters. He's excellent! Amit Sadh is another remarkable talent to watch out for. Sure, he too has a couple of films to his credit, but his performance in this film will make people notice him. Besides, their on-screen camaraderie is truly infectious. Amrita Puri leaves a strong impression in a movie that's an all-boys' show predominantly.

The supporting cast is equally super. Manav Kaul is magnificent, taking his character to another level. Asif Basra does a splendid job. Digvijay Deshmukh [as Ali] is a revelation. He's incredible!
Verdict: On the whole, Kai Po Che is brimming with solid content. Watch it for the spirit it is made in. Watch it because it's the kind of cinema that pushes the boundaries. Watch it because movies like KAI PO CHE need to be encouraged. A film that deserves an ovation!

Tushar Joshi, DNA
Set against the backdrop of Ahmedabad, Kai Po Che is a story of friendship between Ishaan (Sushant Singh Rajput), Omi (Amit Sadh) and Govind (Raj Kumar Yadav). However, this isn’t an ordinary story of bonding, but a kaleidoscope view of the dynamics between the trio that tests their relationship when thrown in the pan of fire ignited by the Godhra riots and the 2001 Gujarat earthquake.

The first half focuses on the camaraderie between the three, with light moments establishing their character traits. However, the second half is where the pace picks up as their town is caught amidst the Hindu-Muslim riots and scarred by the after effects of an earthquake. These events act as a catalyst, showing us the true colours of Ishaan, Omi and Govind, as they struggle to not only keep their friendship alive, but also come face to face with their inner demons.

Casting director Mukesh Chhabra deserves full marks for putting together such an exemplary cast. Attention to detail has been paid as the art director and costume designers bring the colours of Gujarat alive on the big screen. A special nod to Hitesh Sonik who has done a haunting background score. Anay Goswami’s cinematography lights up every frame with finesse.

Kai Po Che! works because it is an ensemble effort. Sushant Singh Rajput makes an effortless debut as Ishaan. He shows the maturity of someone who understands that less is more. Amit Sadh scores in his big scene during the climax where he breaks down and is torn between choosing to seek revenge and honouring his friendship. However, the breakthrough performance has to be of Raj Kumar Gupta who plays Govind. A remarkable actor who takes on the skin of whatever character he is given, Gupta makes us forget his earlier work and leads us to believe that he was born to play Govind. Amrita Puri suits the bill and keeps it mellow in the role of his love interest.
Verdict: Kai Po Che! works on more levels than it fails, and most of it is because of its brilliant execution. Watch it for the performances.

Saibal Chatterjee, NDTV
Three buddies battle themselves and the world in pursuit of their dreams. So what’s new? Over the last decade and a bit, Hindi cinema has spun many such tales with success (Dil Chahta Hai, Rang De Basanti, 3 Idiots, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara). The broad similarities apart, Kai Po Che isn't the same kettle of fish – the film is set against the backdrop of the Gujarat riots of a decade ago. It is the first commercial Mumbai movie to go there.

It might not induce instant superlatives. But Kai Po Che is a competently crafted, well acted and consistently engaging drama that makes its point without sinking into preachy paroxysms. While the catastrophes, one natural, the other politically orchestrated, constitute the principal flashpoints of the narrative, it is the story of love, friendship and dreams that Kai Po Che is primarily about. The movie makes no grand statement about the dynamics of communal violence – it is quite apparent that isn’t its intention. In a way, this on-the-surface quality of the treatment works in the film’s favour.

Kai Po Che taps the obvious things – cricket, religion, politics, kite flying, Garba dance and the game of marbles – as it focuses on the eddies of Gujarat’s contemporary history as reflected in the fate of a bunch of believable, ordinary youngsters. Pretty much in the manner of the piece of fiction that it is adapted from (Chetan Bhagat’s The 3 Mistakes of My Life), Kai Po Che keeps things simple and uncluttered. That enhances the film’s mass appeal quotient without compromising on the consistent tinge of realism that director and co-screenwriter Abhishek Kapoor imparts to the tale. As external forces beyond their control and comprehension intervene repeatedly, the threesome is pushed into trying situations that are fraught with danger
Verdict: Kai Po Che is a must watch.

Rubina A Khan, Firstpost
Kai Po Che, set in 2000, is a story about the three musketeers of Gujarat – Ishaan Bhatt, Omi Shastri and Govind – inseparable childhood friends, who like Alexander Dumas’ characters, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis live by the All for one, one for all motto of the literary classic. Only Kai Po Che’s director, Abhishek Kapoor, describes their camaraderie as Brothers for life.

It is refreshing to see the friendship of three young men on celluloid, without a woman stepping into the equation to cause an imbalance in the predictable film format. It is also devoid of dramatic dialogue, which makes them sound closer to real life conversations. But they have their own song and dance routines, with their lean frames jigging to the tracks, celebrating their new shop, life or an India cricket win. The boys were the ‘item numbers” here, no special item girls needed! The film is not entirely devoid of women – there is a girl, Vidya (Amrita Puri), Ishaan’s younger sister, who is tutored in Mathematics by Govind, and they have their own little love story playing out in the midst of it all.

The cinematography by Anay Goswamy caresses every corner and crevice of the location, as it does the expressions and angst of the actors, and the contours of their lithe frames. The sound design by Baylon Fonseca is fantastic and adds the requisite depth to the drama.

The story then envelops its main protagonists into the dark recesses of emotional despair where an invincible force of nature turns their simple existence and complex dreams into a pile of debris and dead bodies on 26 January, 2001. Insurmountable troubles abound, with the political climate taking a communal turn, resulting in riots and even more gore and Death.
Verdict: Kai Po Che is a good film, But not a great film.

Petrol Prices Hiked Rs 1.50/L, Diesel 45 Paise/L

Petrol price was on Friday hiked by Rs 1.50 per litre and diesel by 45 paise as state-owned oil companies exercised newly bestowed pricing freedom.

The first hike in petrol price in over three-and-a-half months and the second rise in diesel rates in one month exclude local sales tax or VAT and the increase for consumers at petrol pumps would be higher.

Petrol price in Delhi will go up by Rs 1.80 to Rs 69.06 per litre with effect from midnight tonight after including 19 percent VAT. Diesel rates would go up by 51 paise to Rs 48.16 a litre.

The increase in auto fuel prices, which come on back of a small hike in diesel price last month, is expected to fuel inflation that stood at three-year low of 6.2 percent in January.

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the nation's largest fuel retailer, announced an increase of Rs 1.50 per litre in petrol price as international benchmark oil prices climbed 7.5 percent.

The diesel rate was raised in line with last month's government decision to allow oil firms to raise prices in small dozes every month till over Rs 10 a litre loss on sale of India's most consumed fuel is totally eliminated.

Even after today's increase and a similar hike effected on January 18, oil firms will continue to lose Rs 10.27 a litre on diesel as cost of raw material (crude oil) has risen by 4 percent to USD 113.24 per barrel.

Rates will vary by a few paise on petrol pumps owned by Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) as state-owned firms maintain differential rates to avoid being accused of acting as a cartel.

Petrol price was last revised on January 18 when the rate was cut by 25 paise a litre. After including VAT, this translated into a reduction of 30 paise to Rs 67.26 a litre in Delhi.

The reduction in rates on that day coincided with the government decision to give oil firms freedom to raise diesel prices in small monthly doses to eliminate all of the losses on the fuel. Oil firms hiked diesel price on that day by 45 paise, which after including VAT led to a 50-paise increase to Rs 47.65 a litre in Delhi.

The price of petrol was last hiked on October 27 when rates went up by 29 paise after government raised commission paid to petrol pump dealers.

IOC said crude oil price has increased from USD 109.08 per barrel at the time of last revision on January 18 to USD 113.24, while international gasoline or petrol prices have risen from USD 119.59 a barrel to USD 128.57.

State-owned companies have been "compelled to pass on the increase in petrol prices to consumers as the they have already suffered losses on sale of petrol so far and trends in international oil market as well as rupee-US dollar exchange rate indicate continued strength."

In fact, currently petrol prices are hovering around USD 132.80 per barrel. "The trends of international oil prices and INR-USD exchange rate shall be closely monitored and the same shall be reflected in future price changes," IOC said in statement.

The company said diesel prices were last revised upward by Rs 0.45 per litre (excluding VAT) on January 18, which resulted in losses on sale of nation's most consumed fuel reducing to Rs 9.15 per litre.

"However, since the last price revision, international diesel prices have also shown continued uptrend. As a result, under-recovery (loss) has gone up to Rs 10.72 per litre which now, with current upward revision of HSD prices by Rs 0.45 per litre, shall stand reduced to Rs 10.27," it said.

In addition to loss on sale of diesel, state-owned fuel retailers are losing Rs 31.60 per litre on kerosene and Rs 481 per 14.2-kg cylinder of domestic cooking gas (LPG).

"Projected under-recovery of IOC on three sensitive products is expected to cross Rs 86,000 crore and of the industry (IOC plus BPCL and HPCL) beyond Rs 1,63,000 crore during current year," the statement added.

Hanging Afzal Guru: Curfew in J&K

Afzal Guru's family in Kashmir received only today, the letter sent by the Centre last week informing them of the decision to execute the 2001 Parliament attack case convict.
Guru was hanged on Saturday morning at Delhi's Tihar Jail. Jammu and Kashmir has been tense and under curfew since then. There have been protests and additional BSF, CRPF and police units have been deployed to maintain law and order in the state.

Here's the latest on this Story

  1. At least 50 people, including 23 policemen, have been injured in clashes between those protesting against Guru's execution and law enforcement agencies across the Valley since Saturday.

  2. Fourteen companies of the Border Security Force, or BSF, have been sent to the Valley today.
  3. A 16-year-old boy, who was among five people injured during firing by security forces in Baramulla district, died on Sunday night.
  4. Two people drowned in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Sunday. They were allegedly being chased by security forces during a protest.
  5. The administration has deployed extra security today as it is the death anniversary of separatist leader Maqbool Bhat, who, like Afzal Guru, was hanged in Tihar Jail in 1984 for killing an intelligence officer. His death had created massive unrest in the Valley.
  6. Only ambulances and staff of the essential services department have been issued curfew passes to facilitate their movement in Srinagar today.
  7. Internet, mobile data and cable services, which were restricted following Afzal Guru's hanging, continue to remain down in many parts of the state.
  8. The Centre had said on Saturday that they had sent letters to Afzal Guru's family about the decision to execute him by speed post and registry. Guru's family said on Saturday that they learnt from national TV that he had been hanged. They received the letter today.
  9. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said yesterday that he feared Guru's execution would fuel the feeling of alienation in his state. In an exclusive interview to NDTV, Mr Alpesh Sharma also said, "As a human being, I cannot reconcile to the fact that Afzal Guru was not allowed to see his family. That is one of the biggest tragedies of this execution.
  10. "Afzal Guru, convicted of plotting the strike on Parliament on December 13, 2001, was hanged on Saturday after his mercy petition was rejected by President Pranab Mukherjee. Five terrorists drove into the high-security complex and opened fire, killing nine people.

How Unique Does Content Need to Be to Perform Well in Search Engines?

How Unique Does Content Need to Be to Perform Well in Search Engines? - Whiteboard Friday We all know that content needs to be unique to rank highly in the SERPs, but how "unique" are we talking? From a content creation perspective, it's imperative to know what duplicate content really means and to understand the implications it can have on SEO.

In this week's Whiteboard Friday, Rand discusses what makes content unique in the eyes of the crawlers, and the bane of duplicate content.

Video Transcription
"Howdy SEOmoz fans, and welcome to another edition of Whiteboard Friday. This week I want to take some time to talk about content duplication and content uniqueness, which is very important from an SEO perspective. It can also be important from a content marketing perspective.

For SEO purposes, search engines like to filter out what they view as duplicative content, things that are exactly the same. They never want to show you a set of results where result two, three, four, and five are all exactly the same article or are essentially the same three paragraphs repeated with the same photos embedded in them. It could be that content gets licensed among different parties. News vendors do this a lot. It could be that someone has done some plagiarism and actually stolen a piece. It could just be that someone is posting the same article in several different places on the web that accept content submissions. In any case, the engines are trying to filter this type of behavior out. They don't want to see that content because they know users are made happy by, "If I didn't like this result on this website, chances are I'm not going to like it on result number three on the different website." So they try and filter this stuff out.

From an SEO perspective and for content creators, it's therefore very important to understand, "What does that really mean? What is meant by duplicate content, and how unique do I really need to be?"

The first thing that I always like to talk about when we get into a discussion of content uniqueness is that content, when we talk about the content that the engines are considering for this, we're referring only to the unique material on a page. That excludes navigation, ads, footers, sidebars, etc.

I've got a page mockup over here, and you would exclude all this stuff - the logo, the navigation, the sidebars. Maybe this person is running some ads in the sidebar. Maybe they've got a little piece about themselves, and they've got a bunch of text down the right-hand side. Then they think, "Boy, I only have a couple of lines of text on this page and a photo and maybe a couple of bullet points. Is this unique from these other pages that look exactly the same except they have some different content in the content section?" This is the content. If you're worried that, "Oh no, I think that my pages might be kind of heavy and my content is kind of light," I wouldn't worry too much about that so long as you're doing everything else right. We'll talk about some of those. Number two, uniqueness applies to both internal and external sources. Copying either one can be trouble. It could be that these are other pages on your site and these are other pages somewhere else on the web where this content exists, and you're taking from those and putting those pieces on your site. That can be a problem in either of those cases. Internal duplication, usually engines will try and ignore it if it's small and subtle, just happens here and there. It's like, "Oh, there are four different versions of this page because they've got a print version, a mobile version. Okay. We'll try and canonicalize and figure that out."

You would be wise in these situations to use something like a rel=canonical. Or if you're consolidating pages after a big site move or a re-architecturing, something like that, a 301 is proper. But you should also be aware that this can happen from external stuff.

However, when I say that, what I don't mean to say and what I know a lot of people get confused about in the SEO world is this doesn't mean that you can't take a paragraph from Wikipedia and put it in a bigger article that you're writing, or cite a blogger and include a couple of phrases that they say, or take a piece from New York Magazine or from the Wall Street Journal, from Wired, or wherever you want and take, "Oh hey, I'm going to caption this, and I'm going to have a little clip of it. I'm going to put a video that exists on YouTube already." That's not duplicative so long as you are adding unique value.

Number three, uniqueness alone, some people get lost in the minutiae of the rules around SEO, the rules around search engines and they think, "Well, this content exists nowhere else on the web. So I just took someone else's and I changed all the words." You have technically provided unique content, but you have not provided unique value. Unique value is a very different thing. What I mean when I say "unique value" and what the search engines would like you to do and are building algorithms around is providing value that no other sources, no other sites on the web are specifically providing. That could mean that you take a look at the visitor's intent, the searcher's intent or your customer's intent and you say, "Hey, I'm going to answer each of these things that this person is trying to achieve."

If somebody searches for hotels in Cape Town, South Africa, well they're probably looking for a listing of hotels, but they probably have other intents as well. They might be interested in other stuff related to traveling there. They could be wanting to know things about weather. They could be wanting to know things about neighborhoods where these hotels are located. So providing unique value as opposed to just, "Hey, I'm going to take the content from Expedia's website and then I'm also just going to rewrite the paragraph about the hotels specifically," that's not going to help you. But if you were to do something like what Oyster Hotels does, where they actually send a reporter with a camera, a journalist essentially, to the location, they take tons of their own unique photos, and they write about the weather and the neighborhood and the hotel cleanliness and investigate all these sorts of things and provide true, unique value as well as unique content, now you're hitting on what you need to achieve the uniqueness that search engines are talking about when they talk about unique versus duplicate

Four, there's this imagination that exists in the minds of folks in the SEO field, and has for a long time, that there must be some mythical percentage. If over here, "Oh, this is 100% duplicate and this is 0% duplicate, 100% unique and this is the 50/50 mark, there must be some imaginary, magical, if I just get to like right here at 41%, that's the number. Therefore I'm going to create a huge website and all my pages just have to hit that 47% mark." That is dead wrong. Just totally wrong. There's nothing like this.

The algorithms that you might imagine are so much more sophisticated than an exact percentile of what is and isn't duplicate, even when it comes to just studying the content in here. That specific percentage doesn't exist. They use such a vast array of inputs. I'll give you some examples.

You can see, for example, that an article that might be published on many different news sites, after it moves out of Google news and into the Google main index, sometimes duplicates will appear, and oftentimes those duplicates are the ones that are the most linked to, the ones that have lots of comments on them, the ones that have been socially shared quite a bit, or where Google has seen user usage data behaviors or previous behaviors on those sites that suggests that each site provides some sort of unique value, even if the content is exactly the same.

Like Bloomberg and Business Week are constantly producing the same articles. Business Insider will produce articles from all over the place. Huffington Post will take articles from places that writers submit, and it'll be published in different places. People will publish on one site, and then they'll publish privately on their own blog. Sometimes Google will list both, sometimes they won't. It's not about a percentage. It's about the unique value that's provided, and it's about a very sophisticated algorithm that considers lots of other features.

If you are in a space where you're competing with other people who are posting the same content, think about unique value and think about getting the user usage data, the branding, the social shares, the links, all of those things will be taken into consideration when it comes to, "Are we going to rank your site or this other site that's licensing your content or from whom you are licensing content?" Domain authority can play a big role in there.

The last thing I want to mention is that duplicate and low value content, because of Google's Panda update from 2011, Panda means that low quality content, duplicative content that exists on one part of your site can actually harm your overall site. I'd be very cautious if you're thinking, "Hey, let's produce an article section on our site that's just these 5,000 articles that we licensed from this other place or that we're copying from someone's blog. We might not get much SEO value from it, but we will get a little bit of extra search engine traffic." In fact, that can hurt you because as the Panda algorithm runs its course and sees, "Boy, this site looks like it copied some stuff," they might hurt your rankings in other places.

Google's been very specific about this, that duplicate, low quality content in one area can harm you across your entire site. Be mindful of that. If you're nervous about it, you can robot.txt that stuff out so engines don't crawl it. You can rel=canonical it back up to a category page. You could even not include that in search engines. Use the disallow meta noindex, or you could do it inside your Google Webmaster Tools, disallow crawling of those pages. These are all options for that kind of stuff.

All right everyone. Hope you've enjoyed this edition of Whiteboard Friday and you'll go out there and create some unique and uniquely valuable content, and we'll see you again next week. Take care."

Govt Pushing for Easier Auto, Housing Loans

Feb. 2 - The government is prodding banks for faster disbursal of retail loans and achieving a 20% growth in the portfolio year-on-year to encourage households to spend more on homes, cars and consumer goods as part of a broader strategy to reverse the slowdown in the economy.

"There is no set target, but banks have to play a major role in pushing economic growth," a government official, who did not wish to be identified, told TradeReader.
The economy is likely headed to record its worst growth in a decade.

Automobile sales growth crawled at 4.6% during April to December 2012 against 11% in the previous year, supporting the view that high inflation and interest rates are hurting discretionary consumer spending.

Last week, the RBI cut the repo rate - the key lending rate at which it gives out funds to banks - by 0.25 percentage points to 7.75%, the first such reduction in nine months.

To tame prices, the RBI resisted the growing demand for cut in interest rates, but it appears to have hurt sales of consumer goods bought on loans.

"My wife and I planned to buy a new car around Diwali last year, but we didn't get a bonus and the raises were low. Besides, the interest rates are high. So, we postponed the decision," said Anuj Anand, a Mumbai-based mid-level executive.

"We are doing everything to ensure that credit picks up and have already seen 20% growth in lending in the current financial year," Alpesh Sharma, chairman and managing director, Indian Bank, told TradeReader.

Facebook Wants Your Credit Card Information

After the re-launch of Gifts, Facebook seems extra motivated to get your credit card information and physical address, in what could be another attempt to gather more data about you and sell more targeted ads.

The social network recently launched its Gift service after shutting it down in 2010 for lack of traction. The re-launch is seen as a way to appease investors, generate a new revenue stream and, of course, keep harvesting data.

“Gifts should also contribute more to Facebook’s treasure trove of user data, which has the benefit of a virtuous cycle, driving more personalization of the site, leading to better and more targeted ads, which improves overall monetization,” Colin Sebastian, an analyst with Robert W. Baird, told the New York Times.

Meet Asia's Sexiest Woman!

Priyanka Chopra has been crowned the 'Worlds Sexiest Asian Woman', according to an on-line survey conducted by a weekly magazine. Ms Chopra has beaten Kareena Kapoor and three-times winner Katrina Kaif to become 'World's Most Sexiest Asian Woman' on the planet this year.
Think back to your last visit to a general doctor; what are the first things he looks at?
He asks you to stick out your tongue, he examines your eyes and takes an almost kinky interest in your mouth and ears. All this is not to follow some protocol but to read the signs of your body’s health. Visual diagnosis has been followed through the ages; this is because your face is the most illuminating part of your body and provides great insights into the functioning and status of your organs. This is because our body is a coherent machine where all the parts work in symphony and harmony, with the same energy flowing through our veins.
Let us take a look at what can be ascertained by examining the face.

Priyanka Is Asias Sexiest Woman
Face and Body: Connections
Why your face is such a good mirror of your general health –

  1. Your mouth is the entry to the digestive system and hence provides the basic diagnosis of your digestive tract.
  2. Your nose is the ingress to the respiratory system and thus is a fine place to begin to understand your respiratory health.
  3. The eyes are directly connected to the optic nerve, the brain and the nervous system, which also explains our heavy reliance on our sense of vision.
  4. The ears send sound signals to the brain, making up the auditory system.
  5. Did you think ‘rosy cheeks’ were just part of a poem? The colour of your cheeks actually represents the health of your lungs.
  6. Dark circles and bad skin under the eyes reflect poor kidney health.
  7. The condition of your forehead reflects the condition of your bladder.

Symptoms, their Meanings and Solutions

Forehead acne

First connection, the forehead reflects the general condition of your digestive system. So acne in this region is a sign that you’re not really pampering your stomach. We might think of pampering as filling it up with rich foods and corpulent amounts of alcohol, but to the body the exact opposite is true. Too much oil or grease is what causes the acne, and the booze doesn’t help either. Healthier food habits, like a high-fibre and low-carb diet will set this right.

Dark circles and under-eye bags

Dark circles and under-eye bags, though mostly hereditary, do sometimes appear all of a sudden or get worse than before. This is a clear indication of deteriorating health. Dark circles and bags under your eyes are known to be linked to the kidneys. Discolouration in this area could mean that the toxins are building up in your kidneys, or even general dehydration. This could be a result of excessive alcohol or caffeine consumption. On the other hand, it could also be the result of certain deficiencies such as vitamin B12 or Iron.
Congested cheeks
One of the most common complaints about the face is white spots near the cheeks. This is because these spots can result from simple reasons such as bad cosmetics or unclean pillows. This doesn’t mean that you can dismiss them lightly because this part of your face also corresponds to the health of your lungs. So the spots can be indicative of a respiratory problem, such as in smokers or asthmatics. This is because they are prone to breaking of capillaries in the cheeks. This is not as dramatic as it sounds so don’t freak out. A visit to a dermatologist should solve it.

Moles

Ever heard people complimenting “that sexy mole”? Apart from being kind-of attractive when in the right places, a mole is not always bad even from your health point of view. Research has actually found that people with more moles have stronger bones and are less likely to suffer osteoporosis. The benefits are not limited to the bones. People with moles are known to have healthier eyes and even a more well-functioning heart. So don’t curse your moles. If you have them, feel blessed.
