Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi released his agenda for the upcoming state elections.
The BJP has decided to go with the theme - housing, electricity, and roads - in its manifesto and has focused on providing better roads, better irrigation facilities and affordable housing.
His agenda includes:
- Affordable housing for the poor. The manifesto says the BJP will build 2.8 million houses for the poor in rural areas, 2.2 million houses in the urban region.
- The BJP also promises to provide farmers with loans at lower interest rates.
- All farm electricity connections to be cleared immediately.
- Agro-processing units, cold storages to be set up in all Gujarat districts.
- Gujarat's BJP government promises to double the state's already impressive road network in the next five years, providing better connectivity.
- The manifesto promises to give employment and assistance to almost 30 lakh women.
- The age for eligibility for government jobs will be increased to 28 or 30 on a case-by-case basis.
- Potable water will be provided to everyone in the next five years, the manifesto promises.
- All Saurashtra dams to have Narmada water in the next three years.
- BJP promises group insurance for every individual.
- Gujarat will double its power-generation capacity in three years, says the manifesto.
- The manifesto also says that the state will continue to be in the forefront in harnessing and generating power from non-traditional energy sources too.
- Multi-speciality hospitals will be set up in the state's major cities -- Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara.
